The name
Mofan (摩饭) is named after Modern Brothers (摩登兄弟), the band Liu Yuning fronted through his busking years — the 摩 ("mo") carries over, paired with 饭 ("fan," a homophone for fan).
The symbol
Yellow and the sunflower — the fandom's own color and emblem.
Dates that matter · 重要日子
The fandom's own calendar — worth knowing if you're new here.
9·3
September 3 — Debut Day
September 3, 2018: Liu Yuning's debut stage, performing his first single 想象 (Xiǎngxiàng, "Imagination") live on 《中国音乐公告牌》("China Music Billboard," an iQIYI variety show). 想象 followed with its official digital single release on September 15. Fans and brands alike mark September 3 as his debut anniversary every year.
8·17
817 — Mofan Day
August 17, 2018 was Liu Yuning's first-ever fan meeting. The date stuck: every year since, 817 has become the fandom's own anniversary, usually marked with a special livestream or a surprise for fans.
9·20
920 — Just Love Ning
A fan-made day. Said aloud, 9-2-0 (jiǔ èr líng) sounds like 就爱宁 (jiù ài Níng, "just love Ning"), so every September 20 fans fill his posts with "Happy 920" messages.

January 8 — his birthday
Born 1990. Fans mark it annually with the usual C-pop birthday-project playbook — light-up ads, charity drives in his name, fan-made compilation videos.
2018
2018 — the debut year
The year it started: viral busking-era covers, the first fan meeting that became 817, and his debut stage that September with 想象 (Xiǎngxiàng).
7·29
July 29 — Row 22, Seat 9
The anniversary of a fan's passing, honored every year since. See the full story below.
Row 22, Seat 9
A fan with fan club number 229 had supported Liu Yuning since early on, but passed away from illness in 2019 at age 17, before she ever got to see him live. Her final letter said: "My biggest regret is not being able to keep supporting Modern Brothers."
"I'll leave a seat for you at every concert. Don't forget to come."
He's kept that promise ever since — the seat left empty at every show for six years running, marked with a bouquet of white roses and lilies and a glowing light stick, "so that if the night gets too dark, she'll still be able to find her way home." Each year on July 29, the anniversary of her passing, he sends a bouquet and posts a tribute in her memory.

About Daimi 🐾
Hi, I am Daimi! 🐾
- I'm Liu Yuning's schnauzer, and he's my Papa!
- Before me, Papa had Yumi, a poodle back home in Dandong. Our names both end in "mi".
- Papa never let a dog sleep next to him until me. I'm the one who says no.
- After two salon haircuts made me look like a forklift and then a seal, Papa learned to groom me himself.
- I often go to film sets with Papa. Right now I'm with him in Yunnan while he films Evidence!
- At the 2026 Hunan TV Spring Festival Gala, cartoon versions of me danced on the big screen while Papa sang Thump Thump.
- That's my real voice in Crashing into Earth! Papa was recording and kept my voice in the song.
- Papa says I don't need to learn tricks, I just need to be myself. (I do them here anyway. Tap me!)
